North Korea: Ending Peace Pact with South Korea

Impact

On its state run TV tonight, North Korea has said it plans on ending all non-aggression pacts with South Korea. It also mentioned plans to close the Panmunjom border inside the demilitarized zone.

North Korea has said it is cutting off this "hotline" to South Korea after tough sanctions were passed by the UN earlier today. Resolution 2094 was adopted unanimously by all 15 members of the UN Security council.

The sanctions were passed after nuclear tests were conducted back in February. They target individuals with ties to the North Korean military, North Korean diplomats, cash transfers, and access to luxury goods.
