CPAC 2013 Day 2 LIVE: Mitt Romney Addresses Conservatives

Impact

The 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference begins Thursday and is an annual "shot in the arm" for conservative activists.

The list of speakers is a who's who of Tea Party darlings. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is slotted for the keynote and gets top billing along with Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.). They represent a distinct, unapologetic strand of the GOP.

What we're not likely to hear at CPAC is a lot of hand wringing over whether the Republican Party needs to become more moderate in order to build a larger base. We'll likely hear the opposite. And with Ted Cruz and Rand Paul in the mix, expect some discussion of how libertarianism could help tie together the right and expand its influence among millennials. We'll see.

Stay tuned for live updates on CPAC 2013! If 2012 was any indication, it's going to be a fiery one.
