5 Reasons Malala Yousafzai Will Be the Coolest Kid In School

Impact

Malala Yousafzai, the young activist who was shot in the head by the Taliban for defending girls' right to education was back at school Tuesday. She's describing her first day at Edgbaston High School for Girls in Birmingham, UK, as "the most important day" of her life.

Here are five reasons we can already tell Malala will be the coolest kid in school.

1. Malala won't only be a full-time student, she'll also be full-time activist.

Although most kids already feel overwhelmed from the responsibilities that come with being a student,

Malala has vowed to keep campaigning for girls' rights at the same time.

Now that's what I call awesome.

2. She's really open to meeting new people (and who wouldn't want to be pals with the girl who stood up to the Taliban!?)

Even though she’s nervous about starting at a new school and she’ll miss her friends in Pakistan, she’s still super excited about making new friends in the United Kingdom. She says: "I'm looking forward to meeting my teachers and making new friends here in Birmingham."

3. She's the only 15-year-old who's openly happy about wearing a school uniform.

Although most teenagers would prefer to go to school dressed like this:

Malala is totally cool with rocking a school uniform. She says she’s "proud to wear the uniform because it proves I am a student and that I am living my life and learning."

4. She doesn't let anything distract her from her goals.

Although Malala is glad to be returning to school, she's still committed to her dreams: “I am excited that today I have achieved my dream of going back to school. I want all girls in the world to have this basic opportunity."

5. Two words: Pink Backpack.

Any girl who rocks a pink backpack on her first day is a winner in my book.

In conclusion, this is how we're imagining Malala should be introduced to her classmates on her first day. On second though, make that everyday.
