Jodi Arias Trial LIVE Stream: Defense to Redirect

Impact

On Tuesday, Dr. Richard Samuels took the stand for the defense in the trial of Jodi Arias — the Arizona woman accused the premeditated murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in June 2008. Samuels is the first expert witness to testify for the defense, and he was subjected to a scathing cross examination from prosecutor Juan Martinez, who chipped away at Samuels' testimony. Samuels, who is getting paid $250 per hour by the defense, diagnosed Arias as suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Martinez noted that Samuels' own report noted that Arias met only two criteria for PTSD, when three are required for a proper diagnosis. Samuels blamed a typographical error for the oversight. It is expected that today the defense will redirect in an effort to do damage control.

If convicted of first degree murder, Arias could face the death penalty.

The trial resumes at 4 PM EDT.
