Jodi Arias Trial LIVE Stream: Court Resumes After Woman Vomits

Impact

On Wednesday, the murder trial of Jodi Arias was delayed after a sick spectator in the gallery vomitted. Apparently that was sufficient to postpone the trial a full day in what has been an already epically-long courtroom drama.

The trial will pick up where it left off on Tuesday. The defense is expected to redirect its key medical expert, Dr. Richard Samuels, who is testifying that Arias suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of what he says was an abusive relationship with Travis Alexander. Arias is being charged in his murder, though she maintains that Alexander attacked her in June 2008, and Arias acted in self-defense when she shot him in the head and stabbed him 29 times.

On Tuesday, prosecutor Juan Martinez noted that Samuels' own report stated that Arias met only two criteria for PTSD, when three are required for a proper diagnosis. Samuels blamed a typographical error for the oversight. Samuels' testimony may have done more harm than good. Today the defense is expected to attempt to do damage control on redirect.

If convicted of first degree murder, Arias could face the death penalty.
