Senator Ted Cruz: American Success Story Or Manchurian Candidate?

Impact

Ted Cruz, the freshman Republican senator from Texas, has surely made a name for himself. In the few months since taking office, he has managed to insert himself into every major political issue of the day. He has become a media darling and an early front runner for the 2016 presidential race.

"Cruz has the right ideas and, of equal importance, knows how to talk about them effectively," wrote Peter Roff of US News & World Report. But who is Ted Cruz and why is he attracting so much attention?

According to the New York Times, he is a troublemaker that "has tangled with the mayor of Chicago, challenged the Senate’s third-ranking Democrat on national television, and voted against virtually everything before him."

On the surface Cruz appears to be a conservative American success story, however if we look closer at his background we will see that he is nothing of the sort. There is good reason to believe that Cruz is a Manchurian candidate. Before Cruz is considered for 2016, he needs to be fully vetted.

To start with, Cruz wasn’t born in America and we know how much grief that caused the last guy. Cruz was born in Canada, of all places. Canada is the country to the north that has socialist policies such as strict gun control and socialized healthcare. Adding to that, Cruz’s father is Cuban. That’s right, Cruz has socialist ties. Cruz’s father was a Castro sympathizer and entered the country illegally in 1957 not becoming a citizen until 2005. According to Fox News, Cruz brags about his socialist background.

Fox News was one of the first to question Cruz’s eligibility for office. In an interview with American conservative and patriot Sean Hannity, Cruz was asked, "Are you eligible to run for president?"

Being fair and balanced, before Cruz could respond, Hannity stated, "You were born in Canada!" The mainstream media of course has ignored this story, but Fox News has adhered to its fair and balanced mission statement. According to Breitbart.com, Carl Cameron of Fox News Channel was one of the first to report that "Cruz was born in Canada and is constitutionally ineligible to run for president."

Cruz attended the progressive liberal Ivy League schools, Princeton and Harvard and was trained as a constitutional lawyer. Cruz graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, started the Latino Law Review, and was the primary editor for the Harvard Law Review. On the surface, these would appear to be impressive credentials, however we haven’t seen his transcripts so we don’t know whether his success is tied to the discriminatory affirmative action program.

At a minimum, it seems like he is the typical progressive looking to pit one group against another. Why was there a need for a law review that caters to Latinos? Isn’t the law supposed to be for all people? Don’t white people need to review the law? The last time we had someone interested in being president that was a constitutional lawyer, graduated from progressive Ivy League schools, was the editor of the Harvard Law Review, and whose father was not born in America it didn’t work out to well for the country.

Cruz is a Southern Baptist but judging by his treatment of the elderly, veterans, and some of his thesis work, clearly he demonstrates the intolerance typical of all progressives and liberals. Cruz’s senior thesis on the separation of powers while at Princeton was entitled "Clipping the Wings of Angels." The title of the thesis indicates that Cruz was advocating for removing religion from society — a typical goal for a socialist.

Cruz has shown little respect for authority and even less respect for the elderly. He attacked the venerable Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) during the Senate session on gun control.

"I'm not a sixth grader," proclaimed Feinstein. Feinstein has been a public servant for her entire life, including 20 years in the Senate, and at 79-years-young and a graduate of Stanford University, she is surely smarter than a fifth-grader, much less a junior senator from Texas.

Cruz has a bad habit of attacking venerable public servants. During the Secretary of Defense confirmation hearings, Cruz, who has never served in the military, attacked American war hero Chuck Hagel. Hagel received two Purple Hearts from serving during the Vietnam War and served as deputy administrator for Veterans Affairs under the father of modern conservatism President Ronald Reagan. Senators Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) admonished the brash, disrespectful junior senator.

"Cruz is out of line. He has impugned the patriotism of the nominee," declared Nelson.

"Senator Hagel is an honorable man. He has served his country, and no one on this Committee, at any time, should impugn his character or his integrity," stated McCain.

During the CPAC 2013 keynote address Cruz, said, "Count me a proud wacko bird." Is this country ready to be led by someone that admits to being mentally handicapped and routinely attacks the elderly and disrespects our war veterans?

The last time we elected a constitutional lawyer with Cruz’s background, we failed to vet him properly. Before this self-admitted Canadian-Cuban wacko bird can do anymore damage, we should demand to see his transcripts, medical records and birth certificate. We don’t want a Manchurian candidate.
