5 Adorable Senior Citizens Who Support Same-Sex Marriage

Culture

It's a well-known fact that more young people support gay marriage than their older counterparts. The reasons for that distinction are numerous, but there are also those who are babyboomers and beyond who disagree with Proposition 8 and DOMA. Here are five of them.

1. Clint Eastwood

More recently known for talking to a chair at the Republican National Convention, the 82-year-old has also spoken out in support of same-sex marriage. Here's hoping his support does more for gay marriage than it did for the GOP.

2. This group in Minnesota

Back in Novemeber Minnesotans voted down a proposed constitutional amendement that would have banned same-sex marriage in the state. Senior citizens are more likely to vote than millennials. (An obvious fact if you've ever gone to the polls in a small rural town on Election Day.) So Minnesotans United for All Families recruited senior citizens to reach out to other senior citizens. And it worked.

3. Every senior citizen gay couple who got married in Washington

Who could forget adorable images such as this one after Washington State legalized same-sex marriage? Every time a state legalizes same-sex marriage and I see the pictures of senior citizens getting marriage license, I think it's the sweetest thing ever.

4. Betty White

It's impossible not to love Betty White and her no-nonsense support of same-sex marriage. As she told Parade in October 2010, "I don’t care who anybody sleeps with. If a couple has been together all that time — and there are gay relationships that are more solid than some heterosexual ones — I think it’s fine if they want to get married. I don’t know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much.”

5. This canine, who, in dog years, passes as a senior citizen

Does it get any simpler than that?
