Has U.S. Foreign Policy Shifted Too Far to the Right?

Impact

On foreign policy issues, would President Barack Obama or a hypothetical President Mitt Romney be the better choice?

In this video produced by the Nation, veteran foreign policy journalist Jeremy Scahill, author of Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army, contends that President Romney would likely wage a war on Iran and further strain our relationship with China, but President Obama wouldn't be much better.

That's because he aruges that U.S. foreign policy has undergone an immense shift to the right. Calling Obama a "very hawkish" and "pretty scary" president on foreign policy issues, Scahill says that neither candidate stands for progressive views. Here's the clip:

Do you agree with Scahill? Has American foreign policy taken a rightward turn this past decade? Is this a turn for the worse?
