Easter 2013: 7 Coolest Movie Resurrections Of All Time

Culture

“Jesus is back, baby!”

That’s what I assume lots of people shouted on that first Easter Sunday centuries ago. Indeed, Christ’s resurrection after three days of death has given Christians cause to celebrate, dress like rabbits, and paint eggs for many years now.

With Easter Sunday around the corner, I think it’s also a great time to look at some of the lesser-known (but sometimes equally awesome awesome) resurrections that have taken place elsewhere overtime. And by elsewhere, I mean the movies.

So praise Jesus and God bless the silver screen: here are seven of the greatest movie resurrections of all time:

1. Carrie (1976)

Okay, so it was all part of a dream. But when that hand popped out of the grave? Man.

2. Alien (1979)

Technically Kane wasn’t dead before he woke from that coma. But that changed REAL quick when the creature popped out of his chest and killed all his friends.

3. E.T. – The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

The quintessential “Yes! He didn’t die!” moment in film history. Plus, he got to go home afterwards!

4. Pet Sematary (1983)

This movie basically WINS because (unlike the others) it features multiple resurrections: first the cat, then some others, and finally that adorable yet terrifying little boy.

5. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

Was he dead, or wasn’t he? Who knows, but when Christopher Lloyd popped up after getting flattened by that steamroller then re-inflated himself with a balloon pump, I didn’t know what to do with my life.

6. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

Liquid nitrogen has nothing on T-100. Why? He’s made of liquid metal, so when you freeze and shatter him into a million pieces, he just melts and reassembles. Too cool for school (pun intended).

7. Crank (2006)

Chev Chelios might WIN for the most spectacular and unlikely resurrection on the whole list: He literally falls out of the atmosphere from a helicopter, lands on a car, bounces (dead?) onto the concrete … Then his eyes pop open just before the end credits roll. Can you say “sequel”? (Yes, and it too was amazing).
