Kamala Harris Comment: One Obama Of Obama's Low Points

Impact

Sean Hannity is unavailable to come to the phone right now because he’s currently salivating at what Barack Obama just said about California Attorney General Kamala Harris. Harris has served as the AG for California since 2011 and is a rising star in the Democratic party. She was elected in 2003 as San Francisco's first female District Attorney. Her accomplishments are far reaching and vast and she deserves more respect than what President Obama just bestowed upon her.

"She's brilliant and she's dedicated, she's tough ... she also happens to be, by far, the best looking attorney general."

He made the remark at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Atherton, California. The crowd all laughed but whether or not the joke landed doesn't help to make the comment any less problematic.

President Obama, this was not your best moment. Kamala Harris can be praised for a bunch of things. She can be praised for being the first woman attorney general, she can be praised for fighting for marriage equality and her work for California consumers, but she should not be praised for her looks. That diminishes her and it diminishes you. A woman’s appearance has nothing to do with her ability to perform her job. You are better than that Mr. President. We expect more from you than bad punch-lines for cheap laughs.

The Twitter outrage has already started.

What are your thoughts? Am I overreacting or was the president out of bounds here?
