Tamerlan Tsarnaev Shooting Captured On Film By Accidental Journalist

Impact

Andrew Kitzenberg, a regular Watertown resident, turned into a reporter as he witnessed the police battle against the Boston bombing suspects. Andrew had a clear view of the gun battle between the police and the elder of the Tsarnaev brothers Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed.

Andrew said that he saw two men shooting at six police cars from 70 or 80 yards away. "There was a long exchange of gunfire," he told NBC News. He said that he saw the two suspects use what looked like a pressure-cooker bomb. "I saw them light this bomb. They threw it towards the officers," he said. "It created a significant decoy, and there was smoke that covered our entire street."

Andrew had subsequently been interviewed by numerous television news networks. He periodically uploaded pictures that he took from his bedroom window that captured the on-going gun battle on his Twitter account. Not only did Andrew become a witness and a source, but an actual reporter as the situation unfolded right outside his window.

Here are some of the pictures that Andrew took:
