Boston Bomber Transcript: Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Speaks to Authorities in Hospital

Impact

On Monday the New York Times released a transcript of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's communication with authorities in a Boston hospital as he was recovering from injuries sustained during his pursuit. Tsarnaev, 19, and his brother Tamerlan, 26, are suspected of having planted the two bombs that exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon last Monday. Tamerlan was killed during a shootout on Thursday with police, during which Dzhokhar ran over him in a stolen SUV. The younger brother ended up fleeing the scene on foot and eluded capture until Friday night, when he was found in a trailered boat in a Watertown, Mass. backyard.

Tsarnaev is facing a federal charge of using a weapon of mass destruction in the blast, which killed three people. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment or the death penalty.
