2013 NFL Draft: SEC Storylines

Impact

According to 5Dimes, the over/under for SEC players selected in the first round is 11.5.  Luke Joeckel (OT, Texas A&M) should be the first offensive player taken from the SEC and Sharrif Floyd (DT, Florida) should be the first defender to come off the board from the nation's finest football conference.

Will Eddie Lacy (RB, Alabama) be selected in the first round? If Lacy is taken by Cincinnati or Green Bay, he would be the third straight Alabama running back to be selected in the first round. This would break the record held by Oklahoma State and Michigan. OKSU saw Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders go in round one in '88 and '89. Michigan sent Tyrone Wheatley and Tshimanga Biakabutuka to the NFL as first round picks in '95 and '96.

Is Dee Milliner's injury history a concern or just a smokescreen? Milliner had shoulder surgery in March and may not be ready for the start of training camp. Just a week ago, Lions officials downplayed the rumor that they were considering trading up to select Milliner and now there is buzz that the prospect could slip all the way into the late-teens.

Will both Tennessee wide receivers come off the board in the first round? Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter have the physical tools that scouts love, but both have question marks. Patterson played just one year of major college football and could struggle to adapt to complex NFL schemes. Hunter didn't put up impressive numbers and he tore his ACL in 2011. It'll be interesting to see if they go over Cal's Keenan Allen, a tremendous player with a few off-the-field questions marks.
