WHCD 2013: White House Correspondents' Assn. Pres. Disses Tom Brokaw

Impact

CSPAN continues its confusing coverage of the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and as we wait for the security checks to clear so folks can get to their seats and start eating, they cut to a speech by the White House Correspondents' Association President. Ed Henry addressed the recent controversy raised by Tom Brokaw's comments that the event has become too low-brow.

Ed Henry commented that this is a spirited dinner that mixes media, politicians, and celebrities, all of whom come together to help gather funds to train and educate the next generation of journalists. The scholarship that is raising money for students has apparently raised twice the amount from last year.

What do you think? Is this about the kids or is it about the celebrities?
