Impact

A man shot himself at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in north Houston early Thursday afternoon. Local Houston affiliate KHOU said the male walked into the security checkpoint area inside Terminal B and fired two shorts into the air with an AR-15 rifle, according to an HPD captain and witnesses.

An air marshal then fired upon the suspect but missed.

The Houston Police Department told KHOU that the person the man then took out a pistol and shot himself in an apparent suicide. No other injuries have been reported. The terminal remains closed at this hour.

Police were called at 1:35pm local time on “discharge of firearm.” The male was apparently at the ticket counter when he fired shots into the air. The FAA has issued a ground stop for all flights at IAH.
