New Yorker's Mother's Day Cover Features Awesome Lesbian Couple

Culture

This New Yorker cover was designed by Chris Ware, the same artist that designed January's image honoring Newtown victims.

He calls this one "Happy Mother's Day." It features two moms reading a card as their children sit smiling in the staircase.

"Few people today don’t know — or have in their families — at least one loving couple who are raising children, same-sex or not. And it’s really just the loving part that matters, [...] happy Mothers’ Day, moms. We are grateful to, and love, you all," the artist said on the New Yorker's blog.

All mums should be celebrated equally. It's nice to know the New Yorker is committed to diversifying the way we represent them. Notice that the creator of the image made sure to switch the apostrophe one letter over to include ALL mothers?
