Tim Lambesis: Did This Rockstar Try to Plot His Wife's Murder?

Culture

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested Tuesday night in connection with an attempt to hire an undercover detective to murder his estranged wife, Meggan. Reuters reported that she had filed for divorce in September 2012.

Official statements from police say they had received information about the plot on Thursday, prompting an investigation that ultimately led to Lambesis’s arrest Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Jay Caldwell told Fox 5 that someone told the police he/she was afraid something "sinister" would happen.

“I heard one of our captains say we prevented a tragedy,” Caldwell said.

Lambesis is notable for his work his band, As I Lay Dying, a Grammy-nominated metal band, his side act, Austrian Death Machine (an Arnold Schwarzenegger tribute/parody band), and his vocal Christian faith. The band is Christian and describes itself as a group that "always has something thoughtful and positive to say while still playing a combustible, aggressive style of music."

Neither Lambesis nor Metal Blade Records, As I Lay Dying’s label have made any comment and it is unclear if Lambesis has an attorney at this point. This news breaks as the band is gearing up for a tour with Killswitch Engage.
