Clinical psychologist Meg Jay has a bold message for 20-somethings: Contrary to popular belief, your 20s are not a throwaway decade. Some money quotes from her talk are:
"There are fifty million 20-somethings right now, we're talking about 15% of the population; or 100% if you consider that no one is going to adulthood without going through their 20's first."
"What happens when you pat a 20-something on the head and you say you have ten extra years to start your life? Nothing happens. You have robbed the person of his urgency and ambition and then absolutely nothing happens."
"Forget having an identity crisis and get some identity capital. I mean do something that adds value to who you are. Do something that's an investment into who you might wanna be next. Explore work and make it count."
"The best time to work on your marriage is before you have one, and that means being as intentional with love as you are with work."
