5. Surfing

The Australian Open of Surfing is currently underway and set to close on the 19th of February. The event features surf contests sanctioned by the Association of Surfing Professionals, skating competitions, and live musical performances.

4. Mixed Martial Arts

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fights, still highly controversial, are also a great way to pass the time. These full contact combat competitions are sure to get your adrenaline pumping Kimbo Slice-style.

3. Monster Trucks

This year the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals XIII will be held at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium from March 23rd-24th. Spectators can expect to see some of the most monstrous of trucks compete for first place as they crush the competition and anything else that stands in their way. Current trucks set to compete include Grave Digger driven by Dennis Anderson, Maximum Destruction driven by Tom Meents, and Iron Man driven by Lee O'Donnell.

You don’t have to wait for the World Finals, the tour is still underway with stops in almost every major US city. Events are aired on the Speed Channel.

 2. Hockey

Hockey has a penalty box for players who need a time out. Enough Said. The season runs until the Stanley Cup is won in June.
