6 People in Your Life With Secretly Sketchy Backgrounds

Culture

As we go about our daily lives, many Americans encounter and interact with people from all walks of life. Neighbors, co-workers, friends, family, store clerks — they all play their roles in the story of your life. As you grow accustomed to these people, it often comes as a shock when you discover that you may not know them as well as you might think. Sometimes those you least expect lead a shady double-life, or even have a criminal record.

Typically criminal background checks are reserved for employment screening processes. These can include: arrest records, felony charges, incarceration records, drug tests, and sex offender registries. The amount of detail included in the check and type of search varies on the employer and job title. For instance, someone applying to Burger King would not be checked as thoroughly as a cop or national security agency. There of course is also the raging debate of mandatory background checks regarding the sales of firearms in the U.S.

Check out the infographic below to see the six archetypes that fit the bill for having a secret sketchy background check. One might be living next to you!
