E3 2013 Wrapping Up

Culture

E3 is winding down. During its time this last week, however, it has completely changed the landscape of the gaming world. What last week was a competition between Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC, and Wii/Wii U is now a competition between the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, with Nintendo dropping into the background.

Overlayed on top of the console drama is a great selection of new games. We got first looks at new Star Wars Battlefront and Kingdom Hearts games coming out, for example. And while most announced games were already known about beforehand, we have gained a great amount of new information and gameplay demonstrations on those games. Surprise new IPs like Ryse and Knack are getting a lot of hype.

It will take another couple of days to fully sort through and process the massive amount of new games, features, details, and press releases that have come to light in the last three days, but the main floodgates of information are beginning to close.
