Earth, Wind & Fire New Single: Earth, Wind & Fire is Coming Back With a Bang

Earth, Wind & Fire livened up the Monday morning blues when the band released its new single titled "My Promise." Fans certainly have something to sing about; it is the first single that the band has produced in eight years, and it offers a preview at the complete album, Now, Then & Forever that will be available on Sept. 10. 

According to the band's official website, "Now, Then & Forever" is already available for pre-order and will feature 10 new songs, including "My Promise." According to The Big Story, EWF co-wrote the album with Siedah Garrett, who is an Academy Award nominee and Grammy winner. Together, they have been honing the album for two years.

A band of the elements, Earth, Wind and Fire released their first album in 1970 and with it, introduced America to a new kind of music. According to the band's founder, Maurice White, EWF played a hybrid, experimental genre; they were Jazz musicians who "played soul, funk, gospel, blues, jazz, rock and dance music … which somehow ended up becoming pop." 

The Huffington Post reported that the anticipated product will be EWF's twentieth studio album and will feature "Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Maurice White and Ralph Johnson, as well as contributions from one of the group's founding producers, Larry Dunn and Bailey's son, Philip Bailey Jr." 

The new single resembles the bogey-down, feel-good vibe of EWF's biggest hits such as "September" and "Let's Groove." The upbeat tempo is everything we can expect from the old time band. 

"It's a great representation of who Earth, Wind and Fire is now, but not departing from the classic sound," said Larry Dunn, Keyboardist and one of the founders of the band.

"It doesn't sound like we're trying to be anyone other than Earth, Wind and Fire," added Verdine White, the band's bassist.
