7 Amazing Celebrity Reactions to the DOMA Decision

Impact

In case you've been living under a rock for the past hour, the Supreme Court ruled the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional, striking down the legislation and granting legal protection to married gay couples across the nation. California's Proposition 8 was taken down as well, making Wednesday a monumental day in American history and millennial culture. Consider this a newsfeed of celebrities celebrating the good news.

Kristen Bell wasted no time proposing to comedian Dax Shepard. Bell was a vocal advocate of marriage equality and held off on tying the knot with Shepard until everyone in their home state of California could do the same.

Actress Lena Dunham tweeted up a storm when the news broke. Like Bell, she's waiting for marriage equality before considering marriage herself. Also an ardent feminist, Dunham's been enjoying the past 24 hours, maybe a bit too much.

Active in social justice and political issues, Ben Affleck praised the decision as well.

Songstress Alicia Keys changed her Twitter avatar to represent her fervor for gay rights. She didn't hold back with her tweets either, linking to the Human Rights Campaign and retweeting its account twice after her own post.

Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson retweeted his own Tie the Knot Organization for marriage equality before posting a tweet of his own. Openly gay in personal life and on the popular sitcom, perhaps there's a plot tie-in or two with Cam and Mitchell now that Prop 8 is history. One can only imagine the hijinks of a Dunphy wedding.

Seth Meyers was witty as usual.

Neil Patrick Harris didn't hide his jubilation in the slightest. Though he's popular for playing a womanizing Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, NPH and husband David Burtka are certainly celebrating on Wednesday.
