5 Must-Have Books For Your Summer Beach Reading

Culture

The beach. Love it or hate it, it is a great place to go to full of fun activities for you, your family and your friends. If you aren't too keen on conventional tanning, beach volleyball, or swimming in the ocean, there's always sitting in the sand and relaxing with a book. Here's five to get you started off right! Let us know what other books you recommend for the summer!

1. For the Romantic

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

If you haven't seen the movie, or even if you had, there's a reason why this Russian novel is so popular. Daydream on the beach of your Anna or Alexei, and read this classic tale of star-crossed lovers.

2. For the Adventurer

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Undoubtedly my personal favorite, international best seller The Alchemist will have you dreaming of Southern Spain and the vastness of the Sahara Desert. If you enjoy a story of personal growth, adventure, and love,  this book will definitely take you places.

3. For the Fanatic

A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin

Are you still grieving from the Rains of Castmere episode of the most-recent season of Game of Thrones? Do you have a countdown going until Season 4? Quench your thirst by reading the novels, which are pretty much in line with the HBO series. Also, reading the novels will make sure you aren't blindsided by drastic plot twists anymore.

4. For the Daredevil

Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day

Do you want to spice up your day at the beach? Then the Crossfire Series is for you! You may want to have an inconspicuous book cover for it though, as this novel series gives 50 Shades of Grey a run for its money (or so I've been told).

5. For the Sleuth

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

Last but certainly not least, we have Murder on the Orient Express, a classic murder-mystery novel by the late-great Agatha Christie. Set in the Middle East, this Hercule Poirot book will transport you for away, to a land filled with suspense and drama.
