Morsi House Arrest: Rumors Start to Circulate on Social Media

Though the claims have not been confirmed, an Egyptian television station reported that Morsi is under house arrest. Anti-Morsi protests, which began on Sunday, marked his unsuccessful first year as Egypt's president. The rumor is being circulated on Twitter, mainly from journalists. Still no one can say for sure that these allegations are true. Protesters are celebrating though. Many reported protesters dancing and cheering after the announcement. But what we really need to hear first, is a statement from the Egyptian Army. The deadline passed forty minutes ago, and still there has been no word from them.

Here are some of the Tweeters who broke the news:

Richard Engel (NBC News)

Jon Williams (ABC News)
