The Egyptian military detained President Mohamed Morsi and at least a dozen of his aides on Wednesday as massive protests culminated in a transition of power. The chief judge of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Adli Mansour, was sworn in as interim president on Thursday. The military dissolved Egypt’s parliament and constitution and have issued a wanted list for more than 200 Islamist leaders. Morsi has been taken to an undisclosed location and could face charges for the deaths of protesters during his presidency. The interim government aims to restore democracy: “I look forward to parliamentary and presidential elections held with the genuine and authentic will of the people,” Mansour said.
