Hurricane Chantal? More Like Tropical Wave Chantal

Impact

The probability of the tropical storm becoming a hurricane is at this point practically zero. With the National Hurricane Center stating that it is having difficulty pinpointing a center for the storm and with the Weather Channel discussing the possibility of the storm degenerating into a tropical wave, Chantal is likely coming to a slowdown.

However, if the storm continues on its trajectory, Florida can still expect to see local heavy surges of precipitation "but not a widepread heavy rain event," said meteorologist Stephen Konarik of the National Weather Service. The storm could possibly also shift north to Georgia and South Carolina as it progresses to the United States.

Here is a picture of its current path.
