21 Incendiary Tweets That Capture the Texas Abortion Debate

The Twitter community has never been known for its subtlety, but the level and volume of rhetoric was taken up a notch this week when the Texas legislature voted on stringent anti-abortion legislation, sparking a nationwide debate.

The bill, which passed in the Texas Senate just before midnight on Friday, bans all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, closes 37 of the 42 abortion clinics in the state, and limits a woman's ability to induce an abortion by taking a pill.

As pro-choice protesters demonstrated outside the Texas legislature, a war of words was raging on Twitter. Tempers ran high, and commentators on both sides of the controversy pulled no punches.
