The nominations for the 65th annual Emmy Awards will be announced Thursday morning, and with TV deep into its glory days, the range of programs for voters to choose from is as impressive as it is wide. The expectation is that Netflix will make a name for itself this year on television's 'best of' list. After a year which included shows like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and the revival of Arrested Development, Netflix has emerged as an original content giant whose ascent is being compared to the days when HBO first began giving network television a run for its money 20 years ago. Even with the grand Netflix showing some of the usual contenders are expected to appear on the list as well. Modern Family anyone?

Last year’s award show was dominated by Modern Family in the comedy department and Homeland in the realm of drama. While both shows will likely be top nominees once again, hopefully the wealth will be spread around a bit more – especially in the supporting actor in a comedy category. Big predicted nominees this year for dramas include Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Mad Men and, yes, Homeland. In the comedy category New Girl, Modern Family, 30 Rock, Louie, The Big Bang Theory, Girls, and Parks and Recreation are all anticipated nominees.

The full list of nominees will be announced Thursday morning at 5:15 am PT by House of Cards star Kate Mara and Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, and can be viewed live here. Will Netflix have the breakout nomination performance that people are anticipating? We will just have to wait and see.
