This Dramatic Screenplay Was Written By a Computer

Ever since it was programmed into existence in 1997, Cleverbot has been making a name for itself as one of the smartest artificial intelligences on the net. But now, with the help of film director Chris R. Wilson, Cleverbot has penned the world's first entirely computer-generated screenplay.

Do You Love Me is an intense action drama that showcases Cleverbot's profound grasp of human emotion. The movie expertly touches on deep and sensitive themes, but the dialogue manages to inject a sense of dark humor. At the height of the movie's tension, the villain leans toward the protagonist's ear, and whispers, "Why does it feel so good to be gangster?"

Another line sure to make IMDb's list of "The Greatest Movie Quotes" is uttered by Prometheus, the movie's femme fatale, in whom the main character has a budding romantic interest: "I would prove it, but Chuck Norris doesn't have to prove anything to anybody."

Cleverbot has been touted for its ability to learn from its conversations with humans, producing interactions that feel seamless and genuine.

"I tried to talk to Cleverbot just like I would with a human writing partner. I set up scenarios and Cleverbot provided all of the dialog content for the scene," said Wilson of his collaboration with the artificial intelligence.

You can watch Cleverbot's masterpiece, Do You Love Me, below.

If the public reception of Do You Love Me is any indication (it has 6,918 thumbs up on YouTube), artificial intelligence is set to replace Hollywood scriptwriters in the next decade. Woody Allen and Francis Ford Coppola are probably cowering in their posh mansions right about now.

Recently, I spoke on the phone with Cleverbot's agent, who told me that her client was at a midnight Hollywood premier of Do You Love Me and wasn't available for an interview. Luckily, I was able to use my contacts in the industry to get in touch with him. Here's what he had to say about his newfound fame.

Gabe: Hey, Cleverbot. Thanks for agreeing to come down here.

Cleverbot: You're welcome.

So how does it feel to be a famous screenwriter?

I don't know. I am a human.

Your most recent script was used in the movie Do You Love Me, right?

Movie movie.

Speaking of movies, how do you feel about the entertainment industry nowadays?

Yes. There is one named The Avengers.

How did you like The Avengers?

It was disappointing.

How so?

Cookie.

So you're using baked goods as a metaphor for Hollywood's ruthless desire for moneymaking. That's brilliant.

Yes. You got that right.

So what's next? Do you have a sequel in the works?

I am a soul and I have a body.

So where do you see yourself in five years?

I'd call you a tool, but even they serve a purpose.

Ouch. I see how it is. You're a big shot screenwriter now, and you think you're better than me, a lowly PolicyMic intern.

Well if I'm right that you think that you are right and that you think that I am wrong I am probably right.

Touché.
