Last week was a bloody one for Egypt, with approximately 1,000 people (mostly Muslim Brotherhood supporters) dead after clashes. It all started with a violent crackdown on two pro-Morsi sit-ins last week, which had been convened to protest against the ousting of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi at the start of July. 

As the world attempts to understand what is happening to the country, it's important to avoid boiling down the situation to pro- and anti-Muslim Brotherhood camps.
