Samsung Announcement: Galaxy Note 3 Takes Over Times Square For Smartphone Release

While Samsung kicked off its "Unpacked Live" event at 1pm ET in Berlin to announce its newest phone the Galaxy Note 3 and smartwatch the Galaxy Gear, people in New York have a chance to catch a glimpse of the fanfare with a sister event shaping up in Times Square.

Samsung built a large stage in Duffy Square to show the Samsung Live stream. A veiled tent sits to the side where it is expected Samsung will let users get their hands on the newest samsung gadgets shortly after the event is over.

A small crowd is starting to form in the grandstands and Samsung event staff is ensuring the remote link vehicle to provide live stream to the crowd. 16,000 users are allegedly tuned into live streams on computers and mobile devices as Samsung has begun to start the Galaxy Note 3 event.

Check back to this page as the live event continues for the latest announcements.
