Impact

Apple's big September 2013 release is over, with no major surprises.

Apple unveiled its latest phone and software devices today from Cupertino, including a sleeker, streamlined new iPhone 5s (Here's everything you need to know about Apple's newest iPhone 5s phone).

Apple also released its budget iPhone, the steel-reinforced, plastic backed iPhone 5c and iOS 7 software.

The new iPhone 5S will cost $199 for 16 GB on a two-year contract, ($299 for 32GB and $399 for 64 GB), while the cheaper, "budget" iPhone 5c model comes in significantly cheaper at $99 on contract ($199 for 32 GB).

Still, the "budget" iPhone 5C comes in at a hefty $549 for 16GB and $649 for 32 GB unlocked. The iPhone 5S is $649, $749, and $849 for the various sizes unlocked.

Apple's newest software iOS7 will be available for free download starting September 18, featuring streamlined icons and applications featured in new neon and pastel coloring.

Despite rumors, no updated iPad or new iWatch technology was unveiled. Today's event focused strictly on mobile phones, with a rare production of two iPhones at once.

Apple (APPL) stock price was down today despite the new release.

Major advancements announced in Tuesday's conference include an option 500 ppi fingerprint sensor for the iPhone 5s, and an improved camera with better optics, "true tone" flash lighting, and slow motion capability.
