Obama Says Syria Conflict Not a Direct Threat

Impact

President Obama says that the Syria situation is in the U.S. national security interests, but it does not affect the security of the U.S. directly, which is we he sent the matter to Congress for consideration. Says he believes the U.S. reserves the right to punish Syria for its use of chemical weapons. Assures the public that it would be a targeted strike and there would be no boots on the ground.

Says even a limited strike against Assad will send a message and that he doesn't believe in removing a dictator by force.
