Dad Shows Some Leg to Teach His Daughter a Lesson

A father-daughter relationship runs deep ... deep enough that a Utah dad decided to prove to his 19-year-old daughter how inappropriate her wardrobe is by putting on a pair of cut-off shorts. Normally, fathers will argue with their daughters over such an issue, but this bold, modern father thought it imperative to make a public statement.

Doesn't he look fine?

The father, Scott Mackintosh, wore a "Best. Dad. Ever." T-shirt paired with stylish cutoff shorts to dinner with the family. His daughter Myley Mackintosh wasn't amused, stating, "Why are you dressed like that? Oh, well, I don't care."

The concerned father didn't stop there. He then took the family to play a round of golf and for some ice cream. His continued efforts displeased his rebellious daughter to the point of refusing to get out of the car. The combined efforts of his wife snapping photos of her husband to Myley posting it on her Tumblr account led to much public interest. Myley's Tumblr post regarding her father's public shaming act garnered about 135,000 notes.

Some view the father's action as having a negative impact on the relationship with his daughter, saying that humiliation as a form of punishment is counterproductive. Nevertheless, the father defends his public act. telling Deseret News, "I simply did this in hopes that my daughter would know of my great love for her and that she knows of her great worth. Now that it has gone viral, I hope that young women everywhere understand their great worth. I will look like an idiot any day if that point gets across."

Let's hope his daughter does get the point so that we don't have to view her father in short shorts ever again.
