Aaron Alexis ID'd As Deceased Shooter

According to Pete Williams of NBC, 34 year-old Aaron Alexis is the deceased gunman involved in Monday morning's shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., In that shooting, at least 12 people were killed according to police. Shots rang out at about 8:20 a.m., and according to eyewitness accounts, there may be at least two other shooters involved who remain at large. 

Alexis was a civilian contractor who allegedly used a stolen ID to gain access to the facility. 

According to one site, Alexis was from Fort Worth, Texas, and was arrested in 2010 for illegally discharging a firearm. It indicates that he was 31 at the time of his arrest. 

Alexis was born on May 5, 1979. He was 6'1, 190 pounds, and born in Queens, New York, where he is still on the voter rolls.

Williams' reporting of the shooter's ID was tweeted by Chuck Todd of NBC News not long after Todd, as well as CBS News, had incorrectly reported the name of the gunman.
