The Most Brilliant Emmys Speech Of the Night

Culture

After wading through all the crazy at the 2013 Emmy awards, there really were some unbelievable moments. A few of the speeches, in particular, will go down in award speech history.

Of course there was Merritt Wever's uber-charming, "Thanks so much! I gotta go. Bye." But the crown for best speech should rest on the head of none other than Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Louis-Dreyfus took home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy trophy and delivered the whole speech in full Veep Selina Meyer character. Tony Hale (aka Gary) stood behind her clutching her purse and whispering who she should thank in her ear ("my family" ... "and I love them so much").

Anna Chlumsky (aka Amy) was also on hand to do the requisite texting.

A crowd-pleaser, a perfect delivery, and beautiful evidence that Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale's Emmys were both incredibly well deserved.
