House GOP Wants to Pick and Choose What It Funds

Impact

Tuesday afternoon, more than 12 hours into the government shutdown, the House of Representatives floated the possibility of passing legislation to fund certain government programs, like the Department of Veteran Affairs, and re-open national parks.

But while the the House intends to pass these piece-meal funding bills, it has met resistance from the Democrat-controlled Senate and President Barack Obama.

This disagreement continues the stand off between Democrats and Republicans that led to the government shutdown, and has some Republicans predicting it could last a week.
