The One Part Of Government-Run Health Care Ted Cruz Likes

Impact

On Tuesday night, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) got caught in a pickle when he acknowledged his unequivocal support for government-run Veterans Administration (V.A.) healthcare while still attempting to bring down the Affordable Care Act.

Cruz spoke out Tuesday night appealing for the adoption of another piecemeal bill that would restore funding and services to the V.A. At this point, Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) called Cruz out on his seemingly contradictory position.

The ACA, known as Obamacare, seeks to expand medical coverage to 48 million uninsured Americans through a network primarily consisting of hospitals and private insurance agencies. The law went into effect Oct. 1.

Cruz made headlines in late September for his 21-hour semi-filibuster against Obamacare, in which he reiterated his arguments but also read from Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.
