This is Why You Don't Smoke At Gas Stations

A fire of an explosion on a gas station
Impact

Thirty-seven-year-old Austin Dawkins, of Clarkesville, Georgia, was filling up his pickup truck with gas when he flicked his cigarette lighter near the gas tank. A fireball immediately shot forth and set his wife, 30-year-old Jessica Dawkins, on fire. She immediately flung herself away from the truck as the flames burned her. A gas station surveillance video captured the incident:

Austin faces a charge of reckless conduct that is punishable with up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine. His wife suffered second- and third-degree burns to her legs, arm, back and head. Hopefully, she will make a speedy recovery.
