You Can Now 3D Print Your Baby Before It's Born

Impact

Babies! They're great and they're everywhere. A lot of us are getting to the age when we get married and think about starting a family, and there are plenty of services and companies out there to help you plan and remember this important stage of your life.

"Your pregnancy with this child is a once in a lifetime experience," starts the text of one company's website — sounds good so far. "Recall those feelings with your own 3D Baby."

Wait ... what?

For between $200 and $600, a company called 3D Babies will take your baby's ultrasound and 3D print a model of your unborn child. Amazing, right?

The company uses your "3D/4D ultrasound images or newborn baby pictures to create a unique artistic representation of your baby using the latest computer graphics and 3D printing technology."

"Imagine holding your baby before he or she is born," the website reads. Yep, just imagine that ... wouldn't that be the greatest thing you could possibly ask for. Rather than waiting all that time for your actual child to arrive, you can just play with a toy model. Let's hope you just don't get too bored with your new toy before the actual human arrives.

"This is a great way to share the excitement of your new baby with family and friends," 3D Babies lists as another selling point. Right, because just being pregnant isn't usually enough. We've all seen so many baby bumps, that when your wife is actually pregnant, your friends will feel like this is old news. But if there's an actual model of the baby, everyone will definitely be much more excited about the news.

Finally, "Your 3D Baby will be a treasured family remembrance of your pregnancy and new baby." Right, almost as treasured as your actual baby ... but only almost.

And if these selling points aren't enough to entice you, maybe the fact that your plastic baby will be delivered in a white satin and totally not-creepy coffin box will have you placing your order immediately.

But what if you really want a 3D baby, but your not going to be getting pregnant any time soon? Well don't worry, just order a celebrity baby. That's right, 3D Babies also sells 3D printed models of "celebrity" babies. So far, only baby North West is available, but I bet there'll be more options soon. A guy's gotta dream, right?
