Cathy McMorris Rodgers has been representing Washington's 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2005 and on Jan. 3, 2013, became the highest ranking Republican woman in Congress, serving as the Chair of the House Republican Conference.
Considered somewhat of a rising star in the Republican Party, House Speaker John Boehner selected McMorris Rodgers to give the GOP's State of the Union rebuttal, calling her a "strong advocate of empowering citizens rather than just the federal government," who will offer "an alternative approach to the President's plans to grow an already enormous federal bureaucracy."
Above is a video of McMorris Rodgers at the 2012 Republican National Convention. In this election year, Republicans are hoping to sway women voters back to their party. Will McMorris Rodgers' State of the Union rebuttal tonight be what they need?
