Ron Paul and the Nebraska Primary Prove Sarah Palin Could Make a Difference

Though former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has been portrayed as an idiot thanks to her less-than-stellar national political debut as the controversial 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, the beauty queen-turned-sports broadcaster-turned politician-turned reality television star sometimes deserves more credit than what she gets. Here are four reasons why:

1. Ron Paul: 

Sarah Palin joined the libertarian champion in supporting Texas Tea Party-backed Ted Cruz in the heated senate race against favorite Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, boosting Cruz’s fundraising and enthusiasm.

2. The Nebraska Primary: 

The star from Sarah Palin’s Alaska endorsed Sen. Deb Fischer during the Nebraska Republican Primary helping her defeat two powerful and well-funded opponents, thanks to what Fischer’s campaign manager Aaron Trost called “an eleventh-inning boost of credibility.”

3. The Indiana Primary: 

Palin also scored in the Hoosier State when her candidate Richard Mourdock unseated Sen. Dick Lugar in the Indiana Republican Primary last week.

4. "High Risk, High Reward":

The campaign manager of the 2008 McCain/Palin Republican presidential ticket, A.B. Culvahouse, seems to have vindicated Palin’s performance as what many see as an erratic national candidate. Culvahouse, who served in the Reagan administration, said he stands by his decision of advising Senator McCain to pick the former governor of Alaska as running mate as she represents “high risk, high opportunity.”
