4 Cocktail Recipes for Your Solar Eclipse Party

Culture

Whether you are one of the lucky ones who lives in the Southwestern United States and will be observing today's solar eclipse live, or if you are stuck on the East Coast and have to rely on webcasts, here are 4 recipes for ring of fire-inspired cocktails which will get your guests going at your solar eclipse observing party.

1. Eclipse:

Not to be confused with the popular teen vampire/werewolf saga, this refreshing concoction mixes grenadine with gin (1 oz), slow gin (2 oz) and 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice for a totally awesome ring of fire experience. Shake (or stir) in a cocktail shaker and pour over ice or straight up in a martini glass which you can garnish with a very ripe cherry olive.

2. Mimosa Banana:

1 part banana liqueur, 1 part champagne, this drink is a nice variation of the popular Mimosa. Add 4 parts of strawberry schnapps and 2 parts of vodka to power up through the ring of fire. Pour in a flute and garnish with strawberries.

3. Ring of Fire:

Mix 2 ounces of bourbon with 1/4 ounce of sweet white vermouth in a cocktail shaker. Pour over ice (on the rocks) or in a martini glass which you can then garnish with a lime twist.

4. Eclipse on the Beach:

A variation of the popular Sex on the Beach, this concoction mixes the traditional ingredients (vodka, peach snapps, orange and cranberrie juice) with the addition of grenadine. Enjoy on the rocks.
