Porn Star James Deen Gives Justin Bieber a Run For Twitter Followers: Proof Porn Is Going Mainstream

Culture

Who said doing porn would damage your chances to become a real movie star in Hollywood?

At least not if your name is James Deen and you are a 25-year-old guy next door who not only doesn’t work out to get the muscles typical of most male adult performers, but is also the youngest porn start in winning the “Peformer of the Year Award” (he won it in 2003, at age 23).

Deen’s going mainstream by starring in his first non-nude Hollywood film opposing troubled A-list start Lindsey Lohan in The Canyon, a “contemporary thriller” that documents "five twenty-somethings' quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood."

The film was written by legendary Brett Easton Ellis (American Psycho) and will be directed by Paul Schrader (Taxi).

But, is working with a porn star what Lohan – who is struggling to complete the filming of Liz & Dick, a biopic where she plays the late Elizabeth Taylor – really needs to get her career back in track?

At least, that’s what she claims by saying she feels drawn to “the opportunity to work with Schrader.” And about being associated with a porn star, her manager reportedly said "if she had a problem with James Deen, she wouldn't have pursued the role."

Lohan must agree with the legions of other millennial females who are started to flock to porn thanks to Deen’s non-threatening “boy next door” looks and "female-friendly" performances.

Apparently, he offers sex advice as well in account of his experience making love to over 3,000 women (and counting). "Don't try to copy porn's positions at home, they are designed for the cameras and in your bed they will be awkward," he advises.

And since James Deen's talents apparently don't end in the bedroom, he was invited to give college graduates "a very motivating speech" through Good magazine's new online feature "Real Talk for New Graduates."

"Commit," he told them. "The world is a tough place no matter what you are doing. Focus on what you truly want to do as a career and don't get distracted by whatever job may be paying your bills in the interim. The last thing you want is to be the most successful person at a job you hate and fantasizing all day about doing what you love,” he told graduates.

And if you needed further proof that porn is going young and mainstream (soon, Deen will give Justin Bieber a run for his Twitter followers), watch this ABC News’ report on James Deen, "the porn boy next door"and his adoring young fans:
