One in seven Americans is food insecure, which means more than 46 million citizens are going hungry — a statistic that makes all of this food loss even more staggering.
If America reduced food waste by just 15%, the amount saved would be enough to feed 25 million people.

About 96% of food thrown away in America ends up in landfills, meaning 21% of the waste in landfills is food.
Food loss wastes water, too. A whopping 21% of all fresh water goes toward producing food that will be discarded.
Improvement won’t come overnight, but we’re making slow progress.
