On July 6, 2016, Minnesota police officer Jeronimo Yanez shot and killed Philando Castile. Yanez originally pulled Castile for “broken brake lights.” After Castile told Yanez about his firearm, Yanez shot Castile. On Friday, June 16, 2017, Yanez was found not guilty of second-degree manslaughter and not guilty of two counts of dangerous discharge of a firearm.
