Protesters paid tribute to Eric Garner on the third anniversary of his death. Crowds gathered Monday in Staten Island near the convenience store where police put Garner in a chokehold on July 17, 2014. During the tribute, they released balloons and chanted Garner’s last words, “I can’t breathe.” Afterward, crowds continued their protest with a memorial march through Staten Island. The protests were a renewed call for justice, as the officers involved in Garner’s death have not yet faced charges.
