7 Women With the Most Sexual Tennis Grunts of All-Time

Women’s tennis unmistakable grunts could soon be a thing of the past as the Women’s Tennis Association readies to introduce rules changes and new technology to minimize the characteristic noises female tennis players make when disputing the world's most important titles.

And while WTA chairman Stacey Allaser evaluates handheld devices as well rules which would deem acceptable (or not acceptable) noise levels based on acoustical data gathering and analysis, check out Serena Williams and the top 7 tennis grunters of all time (while you can). 

1. Serena Williams:

Williams is a former World No. 1, having topped the WTA’s rank on five separate occasions (on July 8, 2002, for the first time; and on November 2, 2009, for the fifth time). She is the only female player to have won over $35 million in prize money.

2. Maria Sharapova:

As of June 27, 2012 she is ranked World No. 1, and is the only Russian player in the top-10. Sharapova has won 27 WTA singles titles, including four Grand Slam singles titles. She also won the year-end WTA Tour Championships in 2004. 

3. Monica Seles:

A member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Seles is a former WTA No. 1 who has won nine Grand Slam singles titles, winning eight of them while a citizen of Yugoslavia and one while a citizen of the United States.

4. Katie O’Brien:

O'Brien is an English former professional tennis player from Beverley, Yorkshire. She was briefly the British No. 1 tennis player. She reached her career-high singles ranking of World No. 84 on February 2010 and won four ITF singles titles and two ITF doubles titles.

5. Elena Dementieva:

Dementieva is most notable for winning the singles gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She won 16 WTA singles titles and reached the finals of the 2004 French Open and 2004 U.S. Open. Dementieva achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 3, which was accomplished on 6 April 2009. 

6. Venus Williams:

A former World No. 1, Williams has topped the ranking on three separate occasions. She became the World No. 1 for the first time on February 25, 2002, becoming the second black woman (the first being Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1976) to achieve this feat.

7. Victoria Azarenka:  

Azarenka is the current World No. 2 and a former World No. 1. She won the 2012 Australian Open singles title, becoming the first Belarusian player to win a Grand Slam in singles. Her other achievements include winning two mixed doubles Grand Slam titles, the 2007 U.S. Open with Max Mirnyi and the 2008 French Open with Bob Bryan.
