The game, which centers on an ancient order of assassins which spans from the Crusades to the American Revolution, will be brought to the big screen by Fassbender’s production company DMC Film in what Variety reports is a departure from traditional big budget productions -- allowing for more creative freedom.

Now that we now Assassin's Creed will hit the big screen, what other video games can become movies? And who will be the stars?

3. Call of Duty:

A new film version of Call of Duty is rumored to be in the works, as Activision -- the game's developer -- unveiled a brand new trailer for the upcoming (November 10) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Chris Evans, the star of Fantastic Four, Captain America and The Avengers is said to be considered for one of the main roles.

4. Tropico 3:

5. Soulcalibur V:

If this 1990s Namco's classic game is brought to the big screen, Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) could play "Inferno" -- proving he gets either a good stuntman or some martial art training.

6. Plants vs. Zombies:

This tower defense action video game, in which a homeowner uses many varieties of plants to repeal an army of zombies during "Zombie Apocalypse," could be made into a movie with Ryan Golsing, the star of The Notebook and Crazy, Stupid Love in the main role.

7. Mortal Kombat:

Thanks to his dancing and gymnastic moves, troubled singer Chris Brown could be a good option to star in the upcoming new movie version of the classic video game, which is rumored to be directed by Kevin Tancharoen and released in 2013.
